(Personal Life)

  • I have been a Plymouth, MN resident for over a decade

  • My wife and I are raising school-aged kids who have lived in Plymouth since birth

  • I play Plymouth Rec-League Softball

  • I am a percussionist in the Plymouth Concert Band

  • I commute to work on the Metrolink bus

  • I attend the Unitarian Universalist Church of Minnetonka where I serve in the band and finance ministry

  • As a child, I visited Plymouth frequently to see my grandma

Environmental Work

  • I have solar panels on my house

  • I use public transportation

  • I am a Lawns to Legumes Grant recipient

  • I have native plant-gardens in my yard to increase biodiversity

  • I have a rain garden to reduce runoff from my yard

  • I use a manual push-reel lawn mower to reduce air and noise pollution

  • I do not use fertilizers in my yard or salt on my driveway to help our water

  • I divert waste from the HERC by using Ridwell and Curbside Organics

  • I completed the Hennepin County zero waste challenge

  • I participate in the annual Hennepin County plastic-free challenge

  • I participate in the City of Plymouth Environmental Academy, now called Plymouth Stewardship Academy

  • I participate in buckthorn busts

  • I have switched from natural gas to a heat pump dryer and induction (electric) stove

  • Next on my to-do list is an electric vehicle and to replace my HVAC system with a heat pump

  • Augustana College SD (now named Augustana University), BA in Business and Computer Science with Honors

  • Minnesota State University, Mankato, Masters in Teaching with Honors

  • Throughout that time I stayed involved in sports and music and worked multiple jobs to make ends meet

Origin Story

  • I grew up the oldest of three in a small, college town in Southern Minnesota called Saint Peter

  • Both of my parents are public school teachers, so we could not afford to be non-partisan

  • Two days before my 12th birthday, our home was destroyed by a tornado. We sat huddled under a mattress in the basement as the house collapsed on top of us. It only took a few minutes to lose almost everything we owned. In that moment I learned two lessons that I carry with me today:​ 1) Things don't matter 2) People DO matter.

  • ​​I have worked hard in life, but that alone wouldn't have been enough without the systems that provided us with food and clothing, the people who gave us shelter for months, and the thousands of volunteers who came to find some way to help. Since then, there have been countless others: friends, family, teachers, and mentors, who have helped get me to a place where I am able to raise a family here in Plymouth.

  • ​The people and systems that have given me the privilege to be where I am today are the reason I have dedicated my time to serving the public. I am the person looking for a way to help others and I aim to be in a position where I can shape the systems of support, but I cannot do it alone.This is a people-powered campaign. I am asking for your support to join me in making this a great place for ALL who call Plymouth home.

Religious Affiliation

  • I am a member of the Unitarian Universalist Church of Minnetonka (UUCM)

  • Unitarian Universalism can be described through a set of inseparable and deeply interconnected shared values, all centered around LOVE:

  • Interdependence: We honor the interdependent web of all existence and acknowledge our place in it. With reverence for the great web of life and with humility, we acknowledge our place in it. We work to protect Earth and all beings from exploitation. We create and nurture sustainable relationships of care and respect, mutuality and justice. We will work to repair harm and damaged relationships.

  • Pluralism: We are all sacred beings, diverse in culture, experience, and theology. We learn from one another in our free and responsible search for truth and meaning. We embrace our differences and commonalities with Love, curiosity, and respect.

  • Justice: We work to be diverse multicultural Beloved Communities where all feel welcome and can thrive. We work to dismantle racism and all forms of systemic oppression. We support the use of inclusive democratic processes to make decisions within our congregations, our Association, and society at large.

Political Affiliation

  • The City Council position is non-partisan, but transparency is important to me 

  • I am a lifelong Democrat and active in the local Senate District and State DFL Party

  • I am the only candidate in this race who received a DFL Letter of Support

  • I have gained extensive community leadership skills by volunteering on local campaigns

  • I have developed strong working relationships with our County and State elected officials to better serve you on the City Council

  • I will use my personal progressive values to make the best decisions for EVERYONE in Plymouth, regardless of their political beliefs

  • Transparency means telling the whole truth - on the council I will lead with honesty
